Health is not everything, but without health everything is nothing!
A. Schopenhauer
Health on the internet contributes to the availability of essential information when and where necessary and assumes growing importance with the increase in the international circulation of citizens and the number of patients. The fundamental objective is to improve access to care, placing the citizen at the center of health systems and, in addition, to contribute to increasing the overall efficiency and sustainability of the health sector.
The socio-demographic evolution of the population, the need to balance available resources and the quality of the health care provided, are stimulating the definition of new methods of delivery of health services that allow first of all to clearly trace the patient's path from the first moment interaction with the health care network.
This is possible through a system of integrated services in the network that allows, in real time, the control and systematic evaluation of parameters such as clinical risk, diagnostic and therapeutic procedures with particular reference to the quality of the same, to the resources used, to the technologies used and at the level of satisfaction perceived by the citizen.
The implementation of a system of integrated services assumes a considerable importance, above all, in a context of profound change and evolution of the NHS characterized by an increasingly predominant share of the elderly population and assistance necessarily more focused on territorial services to cope with pathologies chronic. In this context, the application of new technologies represents a valid opportunity to define a better balance between the need for higher quality of services and a careful use of available resources.
